Trump to nominate Exxon Mobil CEO for Interior secretary, aides say

Recode is reporting that President-elect Donald Trump has named Exxon Mobil’s CEO to be the nation’s top official on the Bureau of Land Management.

The White House confirmed the news late Tuesday evening.

Rex Tillerson, who has served as CEO of the oil giant for 26 years, was a leading contender to be named the next chairman of the Bureau for the Interior, according to several sources close to the matter.

The Trump transition team had not released a statement about the nomination.

Tillerson’s confirmation is expected to be confirmed by the Senate this week.
